INTRODUCTION

Xenobiology (also known as astrobiology) is the speculative study of extraterrestrial physiology, behavior, biochemistry, and reproduction, amongst other things. The purpose of this club is to provide a place for artists to present their own ideas and opinions regarding alien life in visual form and/or written form. This includes complete creature designs, as well as simple concept art meant to illustrate alien feeding, locomotive, reproductive, sensory, or other systems. Essays regarding alien life are also allowed.

HOW TO JOIN

In order to join, there are two prerequisites:

1) You must watch the club.
2) You must have a piece of artwork ready to submit.

Any member can submit any amount of artwork that they want to. It is your responsibility to present a particular piece of artwork to me for submission. In other words, I'm not going to look through your galleries for deviations to post here. You'll have to provide me with links to the ones you want featured.

RULES ON ARTWORK

Firstly, you need to design the aliens yourself. Fanart of other, already-existing aliens is not allowed (i.e. no Star Trek, no Independence Day, no Babylon 5). Secondly, xenobiology is meant to present, in an at least somewhat plausible fashion, scientifically-based alien life. That does not mean that your alien designs must adhere to super-strict scientific equations and laws, but they must exhibit some degree of thought. In other words, the aliens need to be plausible. Last, but not least: NO HUMANOID ALIEN DESIGNS ARE ALLOWED. That's right. No Klingons, no Wookies, and no classic "gray" aliens.

WHAT CONSTITUTES HUMANOID?

Generally, I regard humanoid aliens to be any aliens that have two arms, two legs, and an upright stance. These kinds of aliens are rife in science fiction television series. This may have something to do with the fact that it's easier to put some make-up on a human than it is to design animatronic extraterrestrials.
